bbchase81 asked: I can get a $1,000 referral by saying a friend referred me (he is suppose to get the money but he is giving it to me cause he’s a friend…). But, would the real estate agent be able to give me a better price on the overall home? Should the real estate agents price override that $1,000 cash? How do I get the best deal?
Thanks.
FYI, the $1,000 is for community members to refer their friends (my friend is not a real estate agent).
EXCELLENT point on the real estate agent…they get 6% around here and the house I’m thinking of costs $118,000. I could “save” them almost $8,000 by going at it alone.

Level Headed, I hope asked: I am 26, live in NJ and have a 1 year old son. I’m currently working full time and am in need of a change. I’ve always been interested in real estate. Can someone please inform me on how to become a real estate agent? I am also looking for soem stories from beginner agents. Are the first couple of years rough? How fast did you get into the swing of things? Was it hard to get hired? Any information to help me make my decision will be beneficial. My husband is supportive of my goals, but I have limited time due to my current career and my son. I also should say that I don’t have a 4 year degree. I have some college under my belt. I ended up landing a good job with a great company almost 7 years ago and now work in marketing. Thank you!

Our busy schedules keep us from being able to really search the marker and we have realized that we need a real estate agent but I am not sure if I should sign a contract with her. She would like us to let her act as a intermediary agent and I am not sure if that is on best interest. Please advice!

AnnaB asked: I currently rent in San Diego, CA and I am thinking about moving. Without just driving all over California, how can I find out about areas, rental prices, housing prices, etc? Especially if I don’t know the names of the areas – Say, I am interested in moving north east of San Diego? Or, do I just have to go and look on a map and do a search for each and every city? Isn’t there a mega real estate web site that lists things for all of CA? Thanks!

EM asked: Currently, I only know the tax appraisal 109K, from the home I am planning to buy.
(Home built in 2006, around 1500 sq)
How much of a difference can I expect from the real estate appraisal? Lower or Higher?
Are homes usually valued around the same as the tax appraisal?
What kind of problems can I face if the appraiser values the home too low or high?
The appraisal would be for the purchase of a home, right now the asking price is 96K( it’s a foreclosure).

bsebl12 asked: I thought that in the Principles of Real Estate class that the teacher said that once the broker requests your license you can begin practicing the forms of Real Estate, thus meaning they don’t necessarily have to possess your license yet. However, the company I signed with has said they won’t start my training until my license comes in. My “mentor,” however, has a house she wants to co-list with me tomorrow. The company was supposed to have sent my application for licensure in on Wednesday and the listing would be saturday. Can I legally co-list?
